How to block time slots in my calendar
Salesforce does not have a native 'block time slots' feature. The standard method is to create recurring Events marked as Busy so those slots do not appear as available. For the blocks to affect a Salesforce Inbox Scheduling Page, you must also configure them separately in Inbox settings.
How to do it in Teeo
“Block from 2pm to 4pm every Tuesday this month in my calendar”
The time blocks are registered. No meetings can be scheduled during those times.
How to block time slots in my calendar in Salesforce: step by step
Requirements
- ·Salesforce does not have a direct 'block time slots' feature. Recurring Events marked as Busy are used as a substitute.
- ·Recurring Events in Salesforce have limitations: you cannot edit an individual instance without affecting the entire series, and there is a limit on the number of allowed recurrences.
- ·If you use Salesforce Inbox for scheduling, native calendar blocks do not automatically sync with the Scheduling Page — you must also add blocked times manually in Inbox Settings.
Navigate to the Home or Activities tab
From the main navigation bar, click 'Home' to access the main view. From here you can access the activities calendar. Alternatively, search for 'Calendar' in the App Launcher to open the calendar view directly.
Open the calendar view
On the Home page, locate the calendar widget in the side panel or main area. Click 'View Calendar' or on today's date to expand the full weekly or monthly calendar view.
Create a new event
Click the 'New Event' button or the '+' symbol on the 2:00 PM slot of the first Tuesday of the current month. The event creation form will open.
Configure the event subject and time
In the 'Subject' field, enter 'Blocked – Not Available'. Set 'Start Time' to 2:00 PM and 'End Time' to 4:00 PM. Verify that the date corresponds to the first Tuesday of the month.
Mark the event as Busy
Find the 'Show Time As' or 'Availability' field in the form. Select 'Busy' from the dropdown menu. This will mark the time slot as unavailable in your calendar.
Enable event recurrence
Check the 'Create recurring event' box or click the recurrence toggle. The event repetition options will expand.
Configure weekly recurrence on Tuesdays
In 'Recurrence Type', select 'Weekly'. In 'Repeat On', select only 'Tuesday'. Deselect all other days of the week so the event only repeats on Tuesdays.
Set the recurrence end date
In the end recurrence section, select 'End by date' and enter the last day of the current month as the closing date. This will limit the recurring events to the current month.
Save the recurring event
Click 'Save' to save the event series. Salesforce will automatically create a blocking event for every Tuesday of the month from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Verify in the weekly calendar view that the blocks appear correctly.
Frequently asked questions
How do you block recurring time slots in Salesforce?
Salesforce does not have a native time-blocking feature. The standard method is to create a recurring Event marked as 'Busy' for each slot you want to block. You must manually configure weekly repetition, the day, and the end date. If you use Salesforce Inbox, you must also block those times separately in the Scheduling Page configuration.
How many steps does it take to block time slots in the Salesforce calendar?
There are 9 steps: navigate to Home or Activities, open the calendar, create a new event, configure the time (2pm-4pm), mark it as Busy, enable recurrence, configure weekly repetition on Tuesdays only, set the end date, and save. The process takes approximately 25 minutes.
What is the fastest way to block time slots in a calendar?
With Teeo you just write a message describing which time slots to block and on which days, and the system registers it in seconds. No need to manually create events, configure recurrences, or adjust separate settings for different integrations.
