How to search for a lead
Freshsales offers a global search bar with a magnifying glass icon that lets you find contacts, leads, and deals quickly. However, when a name is common or multiple similar records exist, additional filters must be applied in the Contacts module to identify the correct lead among all the results.

How to search for a lead in Freshsales: step by step
Requirements
- ·Freshsales global search searches Contacts, Leads, Deals, Accounts, and other modules simultaneously.
- ·If the CRM is configured without a separate 'Leads' module (Contacts only), search directly in Contacts.
- ·For more precise searches with multiple criteria (e.g., by company, tag, or status), use the advanced filters in the Contacts module.
- ·Freshsales also allows searching by phone number or email from the global search bar.
Click the magnifying glass icon (global search)
In the top navigation bar of Freshsales, locate the magnifying glass icon (🔍) to the right of the logo. Click it to activate the global search bar. You can also press the '/' key on your keyboard to activate it directly.
Type the lead's name
In the search field that appears, type 'John García'. Freshsales will start showing results in real time as you type, displaying matches from Contacts, Leads, Deals, and Accounts.
Identify the correct result
Review the results that appear in the dropdown menu. Results are grouped by entity type (Contacts, Leads, Deals, etc.). Look for 'John García' under the 'Contacts' or 'Leads' section.
Apply filters if there are multiple results (optional)
If multiple 'John García' records appear in the results, click 'View all results' to see the full list. From there you can filter by company, tag, lead owner, or status to identify the correct record.
Click the lead's name to open their profile
Once you have identified the correct lead in the results, click their name. The full lead profile will open with all contact information, activity history, associated deals, and notes.
Review the lead's information
In John García's profile you will find: contact details (phone, email), company, lead status, assigned owner, activity history (calls, emails, meetings), active deals, and notes. Navigate through the profile tabs to access each section.
