How to delete stages from my pipeline

Requirements

  • ·Only administrators can delete pipeline stages in Freshsales.
  • ·It is not possible to delete a stage that has active deals without first reassigning them to another stage.

  1. Log in as an administrator in Freshsales

    Go to your Freshsales domain and log in with an account that has administrator permissions. Deleting pipeline stages requires admin access.

  2. Check the deals in the stage you want to delete

    Before going to the settings, we recommend reviewing the pipeline in the Deals view to see how many deals are in the 'Proposal Sent' stage. Note their names or IDs to make reassignment easier.

  3. Reassign deals to another stage

    If there are deals in the stage you are going to delete, move them to another stage first. Go to Deals, filter by the 'Proposal Sent' stage, and drag each deal to the destination stage, or edit each deal and change its stage from the 'Deal Stage' field.

  4. Access Admin Settings

    Click your profile icon or the gear icon in the upper right corner and select 'Admin Settings'.

  5. Navigate to CRM → Pipelines

    In the left sidebar of Admin Settings, click 'CRM' and then 'Pipelines'. You will see the list of all pipelines in your account.

  6. Select the pipeline containing the stage to delete

    Locate your sales pipeline in the list and click its name or the edit icon (pencil) to open it in edit mode.

  7. Locate the Proposal Sent stage

    In the pipeline edit view, scroll through the stages list until you find 'Proposal Sent'. Verify it has no associated deals; if it does, return to step 3.

  8. Click the delete icon for the stage

    To the right of the 'Proposal Sent' stage name, click the delete icon (trash can or X). A confirmation dialog will appear.

  9. Confirm the deletion

    In the confirmation dialog, click 'Delete' or 'Confirm' to confirm you want to delete the stage. If there are still deals in that stage, Freshsales will ask you to move them before proceeding.

  10. Save the pipeline changes

    Click the 'Save' button to save the updated pipeline configuration. Verify that the 'Proposal Sent' stage no longer appears in the stages list.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to deals when I delete a stage in Freshsales?

Freshsales does not allow deleting a stage that has active deals. Before deleting the stage, you must manually move all deals to another stage in the same pipeline. Only once the stage is empty can you delete it. If there are many deals, this process can take considerable time.

Can the Won and Lost stages be deleted from a pipeline in Freshsales?

No. The system stages 'Won' and 'Lost' are fixed stages in Freshsales and cannot be deleted. Only custom stages created by the administrator can be deleted.
