How to create a nurturing sequence
Nurturing sequences in Freshsales are managed from the Sequences module, available from the Growth plan onward. Each sequence requires configuring individual steps, time intervals, email templates, and exit conditions before you can activate it and assign it to the corresponding leads.
How to do it in Teeo
“Create a nurturing sequence for leads that haven't responded in 7 days: value message at 7 days, success story at 14, offer at 21”
The sequence is set up and will activate automatically for leads that meet the condition.
How to create a nurturing sequence in Freshsales: step by step
Requirements
- ·The Sequences feature requires the Growth plan ($29/user/month) or higher. It is not available on the Free plan.
- ·To send emails from a sequence you must have an email account connected in Freshsales (Settings > Email).
- ·Sequences can only be started manually from contact or lead records; there is no automatic entry trigger without configuring an additional workflow.
- ·Freshsales limits the number of steps and contacts per sequence depending on the contracted plan.
Go to the Sales module and select Sequences
In the left sidebar of Freshsales, click 'Sales'. In the expanded submenu, select 'Sequences'. The list of existing sequences will open.
Create a new sequence
Click the '+ New Sequence' button in the top-right corner. In the window that appears, type the sequence name (e.g., 'Nurturing — No Response 7 Days') and click 'Create'.
Configure the general sequence settings
On the configuration screen, set the 'Owner' (sequence owner) and 'From Email' (the email account from which emails will be sent). Verify the email account is properly linked.
Add the first step: value email (day 7)
Click '+ Add Step'. Select 'Email' as the step type. In the 'Day' field, enter the interval so this step executes 7 days after the contact enters the sequence.
Create the first email template
Click 'Create Template' or select an existing template. Write the 'Subject' and body of the value email. You can use personalization variables like {{contact.first_name}} or {{contact.company}}. Click 'Save Template'.
Configure the interval for the first step
In the step configuration, set the number of waiting days before sending. For the first email, define the interval as 7 days from when the contact enters the sequence.
Add the second step: success story (day 14)
Click '+ Add Step' below the first step. Select 'Email' again. Set the interval to 7 additional days (the system will accumulate 14 days from the start). Create or select the success story template following the same process as step 5.
Add the third step: offer (day 21)
Click '+ Add Step' below the second step. Select 'Email'. Set the interval to 7 additional days (21 total). Create the template with the specific offer using personalization variables where appropriate.
Configure exit conditions
In the 'Exit Conditions' section, enable the conditions under which a contact should leave the sequence: 'Contact replies to email' and 'Contact books a meeting'. This prevents continuing to send emails to leads who have already responded.
Define sending days and times
In the 'Schedule' section, select the days of the week emails will be sent (e.g., Monday to Friday) and the time range (e.g., 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM in the contact's or team's timezone).
Review and activate the sequence
Click 'Review' to see a summary of all configured steps. Verify names, intervals, and templates. If everything is correct, click 'Activate' to make the sequence available to assign contacts.
Assign contacts to the sequence
Go to the Contacts or Leads module. Select contacts who haven't responded in the last 7 days using filters ('Last Contacted > 7 days ago'). Select the records, click 'More Actions', and select 'Add to Sequence'. Choose the newly created sequence and confirm.
Frequently asked questions
What Freshsales plan do I need to use Sequences?
The Sequences module is available from the Growth plan ($29/user/month) onward. The Freshsales Free plan does not include this functionality. If you don't see the option in your account, check your current plan in Settings > Billing.
Do sequences in Freshsales activate automatically when a lead meets a condition?
Not directly. By default, contacts must be added to a sequence manually. To automatically enroll contacts when they meet a condition (such as not having responded in 7 days), you need to create an additional Workflow in Freshsales that automatically adds matching records to the sequence.
Can I include steps other than emails in a Freshsales sequence?
Yes. In addition to emails, Freshsales sequences allow adding 'Call Task' steps (call reminders) and 'Manual Task' steps (manual tasks for the agent). This allows creating multichannel sequences that combine emails with phone follow-up actions.
