Copper vs Teeo

How to search for a lead

Copper CRM offers two main ways to search for leads: global search from the top bar, which returns results across all entities (People, Companies, Opportunities), and advanced filters in the People or Leads module for more specific searches by Tags, status, owner, or custom fields. In Teeo, typing the lead's name returns all their information instantly.

How to search for a lead in Copper: step by step

Requirements

  • ·Copper CRM has two different modules for managing prospects: 'People' (Contacts) and 'Leads'. People stores general contacts; Leads is a separate module for unqualified prospects on some plans.
  • ·Copper's global search returns results from People, Companies, and Opportunities simultaneously. It does not search within note or activity content.
  • ·Advanced filters in the People module allow searching by Tags, Status, Owner, Custom Fields, creation date, and other criteria.
  • ·Copper requires active Google Workspace. Contact search can also be done from the Gmail sidebar panel if you have the Copper extension installed.
  1. Log in to Copper CRM

Go to app.copper.com in your browser and sign in with your Google Workspace account linked to Copper. If you have the Copper extension installed in Chrome, you can also access it from the Gmail sidebar panel.

  2. Use global search to quickly find the lead

Click the magnifying glass (search) icon in the top navigation bar, or press '/' to activate global search. Type 'John García'. Results appear in real time as you type, showing matches in the People, Companies, and Opportunities categories.

  3. Identify the correct result in the list

Review the displayed results. Each result shows the name, associated company, and record type (People, Company, Opportunity). If John García appears in the list, click on his name to open his full profile.

  4. If not found in global search, use the People module with filters

If global search returns no results, navigate to the 'People' module in the left sidebar menu. Once in the list view, click the filters button (usually represented as a funnel or three horizontal lines). Add a filter by name: type 'John García' in the name search field.

  5. Apply additional filters if there are multiple matches

If there are several contacts with similar names, add additional filters to narrow the search: filter by Tags (e.g., 'Hot'), by Owner (if you know who is responsible for the lead), by Status, or by associated company. Combining two or three filters generally identifies the correct lead precisely.

  6. Open the lead's full profile

Click on John García's name in the filtered results. His full profile will open with all information: contact details, company, activity history (calls, emails, meetings), associated opportunities, notes, pending tasks, and custom fields. From here you can log new activities or create follow-up tasks.

Frequently asked questions

Does Copper's global search look inside note and activity content?

No. Copper's global search searches by name, company, email, and other record data fields, but does not index or search inside the content of notes, activities, or logged emails. To find a lead based on the content of a specific note, you need to navigate to the record and review notes manually or use filters.

Can I search for leads in Copper directly from Gmail without opening the app?

Yes. If you have the Copper extension installed in Chrome, a sidebar panel appears automatically inside Gmail when you open an email. Copper searches if the sender or recipient is in your CRM and shows their profile with all their information, activities, and opportunities without needing to leave Gmail.

What is the difference between the 'People' module and the 'Leads' module in Copper CRM?

In Copper, 'People' is the main contacts module where all CRM contacts are stored once qualified. 'Leads' (available on some plans) is a separate module for unqualified prospects that have not yet been converted into official contacts. Once a lead is qualified, it can be converted into a 'People' contact and associated with an Opportunity.
