Close CRM does not have native lead profiling automations based on interaction count. To classify leads as hot, warm, or cold based on their activity, you combine Custom Fields, Smart Views for filtering, and Zapier to automate field changes. The setup process takes about 45 minutes. How to automate lead profiling in Close: step by step
Requirements

Log in to Close CRM as administrator
Go to app.close.com and enter your credentials.
Create a 'Lead Temperature' Custom Field
Go to Settings > Custom Fields > Leads. Click '+ Add Custom Field'. Choose type 'Dropdown' and name it 'Lead Temperature'. Add the options: Hot, Warm, Cold.
Save the Custom Field
Click 'Save'. The 'Lead Temperature' field will now be available on all lead records.
Create a Smart View for hot leads
Go to the Leads module. Click the advanced search filter. Add the filter: 'Total activities count' is greater than or equal to 3. Save the view as 'Hot Leads'.
Create a Smart View for warm leads
Create another view with the filter: 'Total activities count' is between 1 and 2. Save as 'Warm Leads'.
Create a Smart View for cold leads
Create another view with the filter: 'Total activities count' equals 0. Save as 'Cold Leads'.
Access Zapier and create a new Zap
Go to zapier.com. Create a new Zap. Select 'Close CRM' as the trigger app.
Configure the trigger: new activity in Close
Select the 'New Activity' trigger in Close. Connect your Close account and authorize access. Click 'Test trigger' to verify.
Configure the action: update field in Close
Select 'Close CRM' as the action app. Choose the 'Update Lead' action. Configure it to update the 'Lead Temperature' field based on activity count.
Add conditional logic in Zapier
Use the 'Filter by Zapier' or 'Paths by Zapier' step to create three paths: if activities >= 3 → update to 'Hot', if 1-2 → 'Warm', if 0 → 'Cold'.
Activate the Zap
Save and activate the Zap. Zapier will start monitoring new activities in Close and automatically update the temperature field.
Verify with a test lead
Manually add an activity to a test lead in Close. Verify in Zapier that the Zap ran and that the 'Lead Temperature' field was updated correctly.
